College Ready vs. Career Ready
Should we be pushing all of our children to attend college or are there viable careers in the skilled trades?

College Ready vs. Career Ready
There’s a job skills gap.  Companies are looking to hire, but can’t find the individuals ready to fill the role.  For decades, the US has been pushing students to seek bachelor’s degrees versus attending trade schools as the jobs in the 21st century would need a college degree.

But studies also show that the U.S. needs more tradespeople and that some jobs do not need a college education although it’s being required.  With technology changing daily, how do we as a country and state best prepare our workforce for the future of our economy?

Should we be pushing all of our children to attend college or are there viable careers in the skilled trades? How do we best prepare our workforce to be able to meet the needs of our ever changing economy?
